Investment Update 2026
Strong, steady investment growth helps CU’s endowment provide dependable funding — supporting the university’s long-term mission and the people who carry it forward.
$2.9 billion endowment value
CU’s endowment was valued at $2.9 billion to end fiscal year 2026. Here are the endowment’s values in recent years. (Values are in billions as of June 30 each year.)

How the endowment is invested
CU investment performance
Here is the LTIP’s investment performance over the past 20 years. These returns were achieved with approximately 33% less risk than a portfolio invested exclusively in public equities.
For fiscal year 2026, the LTIP returned a gain of 20.34% (net of fees), a result driven in large part by the LTIP’s long-standing indirect investment in SpaceX, which realized significant gains following the company’s IPO in June 2026.

Transfers to the university from the CU Foundation

More than $303 million was transferred to the University of Colorado from the CU Foundation in fiscal year 2026. Here is how that amount was allocated to various areas of our institutions.
